Estonian Air Navigation Services has in a competitive bid process selected the FMTP Gateway solution from Insero Air Traffic Solutions as the winning bid in support of their FMTP gateway needs.
Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) joins a growing list of European ANSPs, including e.g. Naviair and Fintraffic ANS, which are utilizing the FMTP Gateway solution from Insero Air Traffic Solutions to provide secure On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI) transfers via the Flight Message Transfer Protocol (FMTP) gateway and the Pan-European Network Service (PENS) network. This in order to automate the transfer of control from one Air Traffic Control (ATC) centre to another.
The scope of the awarded contract is to deliver all the needed equipment, training for installing and setting up an operational FMTP gateway at EANS premises.
“The Insero FMTP Gateway is a crucial piece in our ATC system upgrade path. In the future it will help us to promptly switch the OLDI connections between our main and new backup system. I am happy that we found a good and helpful partner for the solution.”
by Kristjan Kaasik, ATM system manager, EANS.By setting up the Insero FMTP Gateway, positioned in a secure zone, the communication servers for the Air Traffic Management (ATM) System can stay within the internal network area. These servers are configured to only establish outgoing connections, which is a significant security advantage.
The FMTP Gateway also has the capability to manage connections with Flight Data Exchange (FDE) partners who rely on the different and sometimes older technology. It acts as an intermediary between local FDE partners and external FMTP partners, facilitating their communication.
Furthermore, the FMTP Gateway can handle the conversion between two different internet communication protocols, namely IPv4 and IPv6. This feature allows it to meet the requirements for adopting the newer IPv6 protocol when necessary.
The solution will be implemented as a redundant, virtualized solution to ensure the needs for a secure and highly available system.
Michael H. Tandrup, CEO at Insero Air Traffic Solutions adds:
“We are very happy to have been selected by EANS in this competitive tender process and we look forward to meeting and exceed the EANS expectations. As a new customer, I am especially delighted to have EANS join our growing list of customers and will look forward to a continuous partnership over many years to come“.
The project has been started and the Insero FMTP Gateway solution is expected to be operational before the end of the year.
The Insero FMTP Gateway solution is a cost-effective and proven solution which stands ready to support other ANSPs with similar needs.
